Canoeing Adventure

We went canoeing recently; it was good as floating down the water and just chilling in the back seat or sitting in the front seat. Mr Morton and Miss Willis taught us heaps of skills and we set off to paddle down the river/estuary. When we got there we pulled our canoes onto the sand and went to the front of the beach and ate our home made sangas!

After that we all decided to plank on the sand in the shape of letters to spell “The A-Team” because that is our nickname.

We got back in our canoes and set off back down the river, I was in the back seat now because I needed to learn how to rudder, steer and switch accordingly to the person in the front seat.
There were some pretty mean looking rocks in the water on the way back and my failed steering led us to be beached as but we overcame the obstacles and every time we didn’t get it right we learnt something and eventually we were getting pretty pro at canoeing.

It was all going fine and dandy, right up until we got told we had to capsize, lucky for me I had Julian in my canoe who was set on flipping the canoe over and tipping us into the freezing water. I didn’t want to but eventually I put on my try-hard pants and flipped us over! We then proceeded to yelp from the coldness and swim franticly back to the riverside.
All up the day was pretty mad and I learnt a lot of new skills that I can apply to my next class with canoes or even the second expo!
