Waterwatch Print

Today we had a class called Waterwatch. Throughout the day we learnt various different things about keeping our waterways clean, and what types of Flora and Fauna live around our rivers. In the morning, we all went to a park, where we had a question sheet, and had to go around to different information posts and find the necessary information.

In the afternoon, we all went down to a riverbank, about 5 mins drive away from the park and tried to collect macroinvertibrates that we scooped up from the riverbed. There were many different types, such as the river scorpion, the mite and the mayfly nymph. We also tested the water’s phosphorous levels, salinity levels and turgidity levels. It was a lot of fun, was very educational, and I learnt lots about the Snowy River, and all the things around it.
