Our Student Leader Experience

Yesterday Felix and I were student leaders for the first time. It was very different to be in the teacher’s position for once and it helped us to understand how difficult it actually is! Our goal for the day was to have a quick and efficient headcount. To help achieve this we used a stopwatch to time the headcounts and tried to better ourselves each time. The only problem was – we forgot that a team was a Bridge Building for the day. So we were only able to time it twice because without the twelve people the headcount wouldn’t have been accurate. But the GOOD news is – we beat our original time by 4 seconds!

This made our fastest time a quick 20 seconds! Everyone got into the spirit of it and really enjoyed beating our original time. We struggled a little with rounding everyone up for class efficiently but everyone improved at the end and managed to get to class early instead!

Our group, 1A, worked on our ILPs (Individual Learning Plan) in the morning, which was all about setting goals for our time here. We had to be very specific with the goals and what we were going to do to achieve them. It was really good to be able to create goals to work towards throughout the term.

In the afternoon we had Intro to CLP (Community Learning Project), where we split up into our school groups and worked on our projects to benefit our communities when we get home. Working with our teams was slightly frustrating at times but we worked really well together and planned our quite projects well.
