Peter Brown Print E-mail

Peter Brown l am one of the Overnight Supervisors and l have been at this school since it opened in 2007.

I enjoy like playing games like chess or cards with the students, as I think this is a great way to interact and get to know the students’ better. I also find it a relaxing way to ‘break the ice’ and to hopefully form a friendly and trusting environment for the students’ 9 week stay here. I’m highly enthusiastic to be part of these students’ incredible journey at the Snowy River Campus.

I would like to thank the ‘past students’ for keeping us up to date with their lives. It’s always great to hear from you all!  For those of you who have been here I hope to be remembered for my hilarious humour and firm yet flexible supervising skills. My life’s motto is: “A little bit of Something is better than a whole lot of Nothing”.

My hobbies include doing hands-on things like working on the veggie garden, woodwork assignments and maintaining my chooks. I also like helping the students make all types of things that they can leave at the school so their legacy lives on at SRC.

Thank you for reading this and I hope to see you when you get here.

School For Student Leadership

School for Student Leadership is a Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) initiative offering a unique residential education experience for year nine students. The curriculum focuses on personal development and team learning projects sourced from students' home regions. There are four campuses in iconic locations across Victoria. The Alpine School Campus is located at Dinner Plain in the Victorian Alps. Snowy River Campus is near the mouth of the Snowy River at Marlo in east Gippsland. The third site is adjacent to Mount Noorat near Camperdown in Victoria’s Western District, and is called Gnurad-Gundidj. After consultation with the local aboriginal community, this name represents both the indigenous name of the local area and an interpretation of the statement "belonging to this place". Our fourth and newest campus, currently known as the Don Valley Campus is located at Don Valley, Yarra Ranges.

Our school community acknowledges the Gunaikurnai and Monero-Ngarigo people as the traditional custodians of the land upon which our school campus is built. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their Elders past and present, and especially whose children attend our school.
